Real Estate Practitioner's Institute Signs 10-Year Agreement for On-Campus Location at C.W. Post

(Brookville, N.Y. May 21, 1998) -- The Long Island University Real Estate Practitioner's Institute (REPI) today announced the signing of a 10-year agreement with the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University for an on-campus location at its Brookville campus. The Real Estate Institute will be headquartered at Lorber Hall, a magnificent, two-story mansion that was once the home of financier William E. Hutton, Jr.

The Long Island University Real Estate Practitioner's Institute was founded in 1973 to serve the needs of the Long Island real estate community by providing continuing education services, seminars, white papers and luncheons featuring speakers addressing topics of interest to Long Island real estate practitioners.

According to REPI Chairwoman Kathleen Giamo, the substantial growth in the size and sophistication of the real estate community on Long Island and the continuing changes in its composition required the organization to establish a permanent on-campus location.

"The facility will consist of an administrative office and classrooms so that we may continue to provide the essential continuing education programs which are the cornerstone of the mission of the Real Estate Practitioner's Institute," Giamo said.

Long Island University President David J. Steinberg said he is delighted with the agreement. "The real estate industry has provided decades of vital leadership for Long Island. In a changing business environment, it is critical for professionals in the field to stay current with new trends and technology. We are privileged to create an environment where this can happen. This is our community and performing this function is a key part of our bond to the island," Dr. Steinberg said.

The mission of the Institute is to promote professionalism, ethics and education within the various segments of the real estate industry. It works with Long Island University to design state-approved real estate certificate programs that focus on commercial, industrial and residential real estate sales, real estate financing, and ethics and standards of professional practice.
