Local Radio Station Personalities To Emcee Special Jazz
Series
Jazz announcers from WCWP/88.1 FM, the radio station of the C.W. Post
Campus of Long Island University, will be serving as Masters of Ceremony
during the Glen Cove "Jazz in the Square" Friday night concert
series presented by the Glen Cove Business Improvement District.
Radio personality Marc Greene of Brookville will be hosting the appearance
of the Ian Patillo Quartet on June 12 and Paula Ahterton on June 19. Announcer
Joe Manfredi of Smithtown will be emceeing during the performance of Paul
Kendall on June 26, and WCWP's Marvin Emilier of Rosedale, Queens will
be at the microphone during the performance of Rick Brummer Line Drive
on July 10. In addition to their personal appearances, Greene, Manfredi
and Emilier will be featuring music by the jazz artists on their radio
programs.
WCWP/88.1 FM has been designated as the official radio sponsor of the
Jazz series that will be held Friday nights from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. in the
Glen Cove Village Square. The concerts are free to the public.
WCWP/88.1 FM is a non-commercial, educational FM station located in
the Benjamin and Elizabeth Abrams Communications Center on the C.W. Post
Campus in Brookville. In addition to Jazz programming from 12 to 4 p.m.
Monday through Friday, the station features classical music, alternative,
metal, classic rock and blues programming. As an National Public Radio
affiliate, WCWP also airs Morning Edition from 5-9 a.m. and All Things
Considered from 4-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, Weekend All Things Considered
on Saturday and Sunday from 5-6 p.m. and Car Talk from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday.
The station also broadcasts locally-produced community service programs,
sports programming and special variety shows.
