Student Health and Counseling Center

Wellness is essential to academic success. The Student Health and Counseling Center offers medical, counseling, psychiatric, and nutritional services as well as drug and alcohol counseling. The staff is dedicated to helping our students feel comfortable discussing personal issues and having a successful college career. All services are open to all of our students. All services are free and confidential. Your good health is important to us!

Our mission is to maximize the educational experience of our students by looking at the student as a whole and taking into consideration the importance of the mind body connection.

Medical Services section

Student Health and Counseling is opened Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
For Emergency Services after hours please call Public Safety at 516-299- 2222
Below are some of the services that we provide

  • AIDS information and referral
  • Birth control counseling and pregnancy tests (minimal fee)
  • Gynecological examination and treatment
  • Medical care including diagnosis and treatment
  • Medication and Laboratory tests (minimal fees)
  • Referral, if necessary, to local specialists

Counseling Section

We are here to help students cope with personal and academic concerns. Counseling offers the opportunity to talk in a confidential setting. When students are faced with excessive stress or difficult personal problems, professional support may be helpful, or necessary. Therapy focuses on the client's perspective and therapists respect the client's values and self determination. With this in mind, the therapist can support the client and help him or her come to realizations and work through issues that may seem overwhelming to deal with on their own.
