WHAT IS HEOP?

The Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) is specifically designed to offer the educationally and economically disadvantaged student an opportunity to earn a college degree. Jointly sponsored by C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and the New York State Education Department, HEOP is both a financial aid and support service program.

HOW DOES ONE APPLY?

To apply, each applicant must:

  1. Submit a standard C.W. Post admissions application, checking HEOP where applicable;
  2. Submit copies of Income Tax Statements (1040’s) for the present and previous year. WHY A SUMMER PROGRAM?

Every freshman selected for the C.W. Post Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program must participate in a five week summer program. The program is designed to develop the reading, writing, study and mathematical skills of the student.

WHAT ABOUT FINANCIAL AID?

Students enrolled in HEOP are eligible for State, Federal and C.W. Post Campus Scholarship funds. The amount students receive toward their educational expenses is based on need. Students are expected to contribute through loans, workstudy or savings. Every HEOP student receives a book allowance each semester.

WHAT ABOUT THE ACADEMIC YEAR?

Once the summer is successfully completed, the HEOP student is matriculated in a regular degree program. To aid the student, support services in tutoring, academic advisement, language arts development and personal counseling are offered.
