Dorm residents may connect to the campus network from their dorm room. The dormitory connection provides access to the campus network and the Internet at the same speed that is available from the campus computer labs.

Once connected, resident students can use their preferred web browser, email client and other software.

If your computer did not come with Ethernet built in, you will need to purchase an Ethernet card/adapter and a CAT-5 cable. 

LIU has an arrangement with an external vendor to sell and install the Ethernet card and CAT-5 cable. If you wish to use, BIT, call 516-271-7100. The fee BIT charges is not associated with University; it is paid directly to the vendor. The total cost associated with this connection is the one time purchase of the network card, cable and installation.
